The story of Joseph in the book of Genesis as well as many chapters of the book of Daniel go into great detail explaining the nature of prophetic and divinely inspired dreams. By reading all of these texts, we can gain a broader understanding of prophetic dreaming and the God-given gift of dream interpretation.

Commonalities in Biblical Dream Interpretations (based on Genesis & Daniel) · The dream is thought provoking, disturbing, unsettling or can not be shaken. · Dreamer has the discernment to realize that the dream has meaning or significance. · Dreamer seeks interpretation and can only find it from God or one of His servants. · The dream is fully symbolic rather than literal and requires a divine interpretation. · The interpreter directs all credit, wisdom and power of interpretation to God. · Interpreter maintains a posture of humility. · In some cases, interpreter prayerfully considers the interpretation before speaking. · The interpreter reveals next steps for the dreamer regarding the content of the dream. · God blesses the dreamer for seeking wisdom. · God blesses the interpreter for a humility and desire to glorifying God. If you would like to seek God through divine dreams, pray to Him for an outpouring of communication through your dreams. Read scriptures about dreaming, keep your prayers and thoughts before bed kingdom focused and prayerful. Never fail to praise God and thank Him for communicating through dreams. Be sure to share your dream experience with like-minded believers so as to edify each other and bring glory to God.
