Put your Pain into Perspective

“The righteous person faces many troubles, but the Lord comes to the rescue each time.” Psalm 34:9

Often you will hear the question “why do bad things happen to good people?” Scripture shows us that the righteous face troubles but even so, the Lord will rescue you. Reject the thought that God is somehow absent, not involved or causing the troubles you face. But rather, turn your attention back to His promise to rescue you. Consider Isaiah 55:9, which reads, “As the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways and my thoughts than your thoughts.” God knows what He is doing! It’s very tempting (especially early in your walk) to try to get God to conform His will to yours. As you mature in your faith, you learn the value in doing the opposite - conforming your will to God’s. When you can’t understand what God is doing, rest in the fact that whatever He’s up to is better! Take time to reflect on a circumstance or situation in your life where you were sure that you knew what was best, but it didn't play out the way you had hoped. After you reached the other side of disappointment, regret or even remorse, what blessing did you see in having overcome the struggle?
